Performing Stars Academy

2024/2025

The VPS Academy Program is designed to nurture young artists’ creative minds and give them intensive training in all aspects of the performing arts. This immersive program provides a child more individualized training to build their skills and confidence they will carry with them both in performance and future endeavours.

The Academy will train Wednesdays 9:30-3:30 from September - June.

The Program includes:

• Private Voice Lessons

• Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop Dance

• Music Theory, Piano, and Sight Reading

• Drama and Acting for Musical Theatre and Film

• Theatre Design, Production and Dance Workshops

APPLICATION INFORMATION:

In order to participate in the Academy Program, your child will need to receive permission from your school’s principal, homeschooled or enrolled in VSB Online Learning. It’s important that you and your child’s educator, feel they are able to handle this training along with their school work. This is a nine month commitment and all guardians and students accepted into the program will be required to sign a commitment letter outlining the expectations prior to enrolment.

Upon application, students will receive a placement audition time and, if accepted, will be placed in the Wednesdays Full Day Program 9:30-3:30.

PROGRAM TUITION:

Once placed, a $200 deposit will be required to register and hold your place. The remainder of the program fees will need to be paid in full before the first day.

AUDITIONS:

Please fill out the audition form and we will send you the audition materials.

New students will require an in-person audition and current 2023/2024 Academy students may submit a video.

In-person auditions:
June 4th, June 10th, June 11th - 3:30-5:00

Video auditions are due by June 4th.

Your child should prepare:

  • 30 seconds of a song that should be sung acappella and suits their personality and voice

  • 3 reasons why they would like to take part in this program

  • a memorized short acting monologue that will be provided

MUSICAL THEATRE PREPARATORY PROGRAM

We recommend that students new to VPS or auditioning for Academy for the first time take the Musical Theatre Preparatory Program.

This intensive program will help students prepare for their audition and build on their musical theatre skills. No experience necessary.
Please note, this does not guarantee acceptance into Academy.
